On our first full day in Budapest we really saw a lot! We started the morning at Saint Stephen Basilica then went to meet with the city officials and learned about the city’s history. Our afternoon was spent touring parliament and walking along the Danube stopping to hear about the Shoes on the Danube memorial and statue of the famous Hungarian poet Attila Jozsef.

Our Tuesday was a sunny day…perfect for exploring the city. We started at the gimnázium sharing learning experiences, traditional dances, and celebrated a sweet 16 birthday together.
We saw beautiful street art, walked down Andrássy Avenue, heroes square, the zoo, and finished our day with relaxing at the Szechenyi Bath.

Everyday in Budapest was an adventure with our new friends! Thursday was our walk through the history. We started our morning in Aquincum witnessing the ingenuitiy of the Romans. Then we visited the tomb of Gül Baba also known as the “Father of Roses”. together. Afterwards we headed to Margitsziget and enjoyed a nice picnic and fun that afternoon. So much fun!!

Friday we were able to celebrate Hungary’s national holiday. There was so much to see and we all enjoyed lángos and kürtőskalács. Yum!! That afternoon we had a lovely walk up Gellért Hill seeing the city from a different perspective and learning more about it’s rich history.
That evening we had dinner with our host families. Everyone had fun as we enjoyed delicious food, great stories, and lots of fun dancing!
